In 2011 as I began my Junior year of High school, the upperclassmen insisted that I pray and pray for the good fortune of having David Menasche as my AP English Teacher, unfortunately we, did not have that luck. A semester later, David Menasche adopted my class and 2 others for the last semester and I knew that January, when he committed such an intense action, my life would change forever. Growing up, I always acted different and spoke differently then most and for that, I was judged and criticized, afraid and too shy to speak my opinion. Menasche, you taught us, us it is ok to be different, it is great to be different, its phenomenal to think differently because its the people who do things differently who change the world. Thank you for teaching us to be our own individual. Thank you for being not only a teacher but a friend. Thank you for never judging us. Thank you for accepting us. Thank you for being a role model. Thank you for having the damn balls to never bullshit us and tell us how it is. Thank you for your heart, dedication, perseverance and fight. Thank you for inspiring thousands and thousands of students and impacting the lives of millions. Thank you for being a winner. You won long long ago. And thank you for being the first person I felt genuinely believed in me. Just thank you. Your spirit lives on, your energy is everywhere, live on in happiness and painless into the next life. RIP David Menasche. To you, I shall dedicate all of my future success. Thank you. Live on.
