In 2011, just after successfully indicting the first gang members - TopicsExpress

In 2011, just after successfully indicting the first gang members ever for state criminal conspiracy charges, I wrote an operational plan to successfully combat crime. With the support of other agencies, we presented the plan to the administration...they shot it down and said what they were doing was working. I left the NOPD in Sept 2012 and my plan was implemented shortly thereafter as the Multi Agency Gang Unit. Now the department is down over 33% in manpower and crime is getting worse by the day. Everyone is trying to find solutions, but keep saying they are limited because of the manpower shortage. That is very true, if you look at things for face value. There are resources available to supplement the manpower shortage in ways that would have an effect on crime. The thing is you must have a progressive mind. You see in business, if you have positions that need to be filled to make your company successful but you cant seem to hire for them, you outsource... You reach out to a staffing company for qualified candidates that can fill the position and assist your team. This is exactly what we are doing at Pinnacle Security and Investigation. We have found the resources (former and retired law enforcement officers) to fill our armed security officer positions. A public/private partnership would work and our officers can supplement the manpower shortage in a way that is effective and beneficial to the citizens, the administration, and the NOPD officers. Our operations are growing around the city. I reached out to the administration in July with a plan. Just as it happened in 2011, it was pushed to the side. Just think if it was implemented this past July and there were now 30 retired LEOs patrolling the FQ... What would the crime be like now? Will the same thing happen that did in 2012, when the administration finally accepted a new, innovative idea from someone other than themselves???
