In 2012, the Puerto Rico Tourism Company and the State Historic Preservation Office turned to Technomedia to create a production that would become a “must see†destination for the people of Puerto Rico, and international guests visiting Old San Juan. Technomedia was commisioned to convey the pride and inspiration of Peurto Rico in the hearts and minds of guests who visit this memorable experience. Through the art of storytelling, Technomedia depicts the significance of the location, a knowledge of the island’s culture and arts; while simultaneously relating Puerto Rico’s exciting future. The Technomedia team delivered an amazing immersive 3D projection mapping film accompanied by a light show and surround sound experience on the famed Cuartel de Ballaja historic fort. With a budget of over $2-million for systems and content, the production captures the spirit of Puerto Rico with its history, natural wonders, arts, military engagements, and cultural backgrounds. The production is a timeline of the islands history, which includes illusions of the building crumbling, hot lava erupting creating the island, native wildlife, historic battles, and Peurto Rican culture. The end result of this 20-minute program is a highly engrossing spectacle that thrills guests several times per week and will continue to entertain and educate thousands of people for years to come. Technomedia’s design, engineering, and installation teams were challenged with the humid and salty climate of the island. This required special housing for the sensitive projection and support equipment required to provide consistent, long-term reliability. Preservation of the historic architectural heritage of the building and grounds during planning and install was of utmost importance. Technomedia can proudly state all client objectives were achieved and the demands of the project were met or exceeded on every level.
