In 2013 the union proposed to management a three year plan - TopicsExpress

In 2013 the union proposed to management a three year plan 2013-2015 for wages and salaries for employees of the commission. Our proposal for 2013 was 30 % + $5000 across the board. Management countered with the sv jones proposal. We met and discuss their proposal and compromises were made by both parties involved. Management subsequently approved the document and sent it to the board for approval in September 2014. The board approved their proposal. This decision was then communicated to the minister in writing in October of 2014. This document sat on his desk for almost a month. It was only after he received a copy of out ultimatum to strike in November that he acted and instructed management to make some adjustments to the document. Notwithstanding all of the above the union proceeded on strike since nothing was forthcoming in terms of when payment would have been made. After 5 days of industrial action a terms of resumption was signed between management and the union to return to work. An 8% interim payment computed as at January 2014 was brokered in this TOR. It was agreed that everything as regard sv jones and its implementation would have been concluded before the end of the life of the board which would have expired at 31st December 2014. At 31st December 2014 the management and the board could not tell us the position with the sv jones proposal therefore we are where we are. We are not on industrial action for a one-off payment for 2013 (even though a proposal as regards thus has been made by management and further a counter proposal by the Union), nor for those benefits outlined in the media by management. We are here for the approval and implementation of the sv jones proposal which will award us better wages and salaries henceforth.
