In 2015 it will be 50 years since Harry Angelman first described Angelman Syndrome and his work was published in Dec1965. In recognition of this we (myself and Johan Klein primarily) have been working in the background trying to see would there be an interest among the organisations around the world in raising 50 MILLION for 50th Anniversary. The idea is that this would be a global initiative but any money raised in a particular country would go to the organisation in that country to use to fund research or other goals they may have to advance awareness and offer support to families. The plan would be to launch this global initiative on 15th February 2015 - International Angelman Day with a series of events and ideas from the various countries to roll out over 2015 which would hopefully gather momentum with more plans, events and fundraising initiatives being held over the course of the year as more people become involved. Is this something of interest to you all?
