In August 1994, I stepped onto the campus of Southern University. I was a green 17 year old who was ready to get away from home and experience new things. Not only did I experience new things but I learned how to stand alone in this harsh world. Although I had many ups and downs throughout my time in Baton Rouge, I wouldnt change one thing because I learned from it all. I learned patience, discipline, structure, brotherhood, self-confidence, and the important of education. Southern University introduced me to my best friends, my brothers, lifetime connections, and most importantly my wife and mother of my children. Im truly grateful to Southern University for all that its done for me and despite the critics all that it can continue to do for the next generations of young men and women.# throwbackthursdayreflection
