In Berlin seeing the sights.Its the 25th anniversary of the Wall going down.Went to the Stasi (East Germany secret police) prison in the old East.Harrowing comes to mind and we really must realise what a great world we live in. today.Our guide was an inmate in 1984 after he tried to escape.He was sold to the West for 70,000 Eur Eqiv in 1985.The DDR did this to get hard currency.To understand how repressed it was the Nazis had 7000 Gestapo.The DDR had 90,000 people.It was horrific in the prison.4 in a tiny cell with a bucket.it was an insane country.People were put in for very little reason.After the wall went down a lady found out that it was her own husband who had been grassing her up.Over the last 25 years the govt have tried to tart up the huge blocks of horrible flats that were the Communist way of building but basically in the uk such places were levelled.The air in the East also stinks of coal from the power staions You really had to experience the tour to believe it.You couldnt make it up
