In England there is no requirement for the food served in hospitals to meet animal welfare standards. This means that hospital bacon and eggs is most likely to have come from farms that don’t meet RSPCA standards and that keep hens in cages. We have therefore joined forces with Sustain and their Campaign for Better Hospital Food to call for the introduction of higher animal welfare standards for patient meals.
