In Ephesians and Colossians, St. Paul strongly alludes to the tree - TopicsExpress

In Ephesians and Colossians, St. Paul strongly alludes to the tree of knowledge of good and evil- but in this case, identifying Christ as the Tree, and Christians as those who have lawfully partaken of the tree. Christ is the one in whom is hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. In Christ, we understand the purpose of God, disclosed in all wisdom and insight. And because we have partaken of the tree, we are seated in Heaven with Christ under whose feet God has placed all things, echoing Psalm 8, Davids meditation on Adams authority over all creation. In Genesis 3, Eve sought to become wise by partaking of the tree of knowledge. Some translations say that she sought insight. To discern between good and evil to have wisdom is a kingly power. That is why Solomon sought wisdom upon his enthronement, and that is why we are told in 1 Kings 3 that he could discern between good and evil. As Wisdom herself proclaims in the book of Proverbs, by me kings rule. The first Adam seized exaltation to the throne prematurely but was cast down to die. The Last Adam, though being ruler of the universe by nature, humbled Himself even to the death of the Cross, and as such, was exalted to share the throne of God. In Him, we are seated in Heaven and receive wisdom and insight.
