In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, - TopicsExpress

In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. In Flanders Fields by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae For those that arent aware: this is the reason the red poppy is associated with Veterans Day here in the US or Remembrance Day in the UK and Commonwealth Countries. Veterans Day was, before WW2, known as Armistice Day, as the armistice that led the way to the Treaty of Versailles, called for hostilities to end on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. This year marks the 100th anniversary of The Great War. Please find a moment or two in your day to remember the generation that was lost in The War to End All Wars.
