In George Orwells famous book, 1984, three great and bellicose powers ruled the world - Oceania, Eurasia and Eastasia. At any point in time, there was always war going on either between two or amongst all three of them. One of the cardinal sins in Big Brothers Oceania was not to be able to say with a fair measure of certainty who the enemy of the moment was. Were at war with Eurasia! No, its with Eastasia!! Or maybe were at war with everyone and with no one!!! Increasingly, the inflows and outflows into and out of the APC and PDP are starting to represent an Orwellian nightmare. Or is it comedy? Already, weve contributed a gem to the lexicon of political science: re-defection. We may well be on the way to further enriching the literature with the expression hop-on, hop-off politics. Well...
