In January 2013, I traveled to Chiang Mai, Thailand to begin working on PhD in Intercultural Studies through Biola University. In 1993, I completed a Doctor of Ministry degree in Church Planting. However, over the past 20 years, I have been privileged to meet peoples from all over the world. Many of those people come from Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, and Animistic backgrounds. My previous training seemed inadequate to address these cultures which were so foreign to my Christian experience. My first class was on Shame and Honor. This class provided a context for me to better understand my experiences with those who did not grow up in the West. During this class, we explored three primary cultural world-views by studying: 1. Power and Fear Cultures 2. Guilt and Innocence Cultures 3. Shame and Honor Cultures In the days ahead, we will walk through the book of Romans looking at these elements. Take Your Next Step, Doug
