In John 4, Jesus engages a Samaritan woman and at one point in the conversation He brings up her shameful past and present struggle: men. She had been in several relationships with men and she was currently living with a man who was not her husband. This must have been incredibly shameful for this woman. Sin always brings shame. But I find it interesting that Jesus saw this as NECESSARY to bring up for this woman. He could have simply gave her the living water He was talking about, without diving into her personal life. You see, we all have to make a choice when it comes to following Jesus. What do I want more? The SIN that enslaves me or the SAVIOR that loves me? To want the benefits Jesus provides at the Cross without rejecting/repenting/renouncing the sin He died for is an oxymoron. Come to Jesus, full of love and grace for the sinner. Let Him change you. He will change your mind when it comes to sin.
