In Kingston,Ontario on Friday,March 7th for a day trip. Had lovely lunch at Chez Piggy with Alfred Fisher. Then, afterward, met Lucinda Walls,Music Librarian at Queens University School of Music Library: W.D. Jordan Music Library at Queens University. Borrowed more 78 RPM sets from their classical 78 RPM record collection. Currently will continue to transfer and use their 78s for my transfer needs. Took with me these excellent, very fine collectors 78s: Artur Rodzinski: Conducting Cleveland Symphony Orchestra-1940 Shostakovich-Symphony Number 1, Dvorak: Symphony Number 2 Conducted by great Czech Conductor,Vaclav Talich,1938,HMV, plus desirable 78s by Henry Cowell: Conducted by Stokowski, and All-American Orchestra-1941,Columbia 78 RPM set, most interestingly-rare set of early Canadian 78s Conducted by Sir Ernest McMillan and Toronto Symphony Orchestra-1942- British Composer,Henry Byrd; all are very special, historic 78s. Will begin transferring to CDs for collectors this week. Heard on youtube: Beethovens Last Piano Composition recently rediscovered, lost fragment of Beethovens last piano piece, Farewell To The Piano-composed 1826,in the late fall/winter by Beethoven, played by a wonderful British Pianist,Philip Sear. He is a specialist in forgotten piano music of the 19th/18th century: composers like Stephen Heller,(no,not LAvalanche, which I used to torture my piano teacher Harry Heap with on his piano, resulting in this classic remark: If You Dont Stop,The Piano Is Going To Open Up AND BITE YOU!!
