In Loving memory of Norman Whitfield (May 12, 1940 – September 16, 2008). He was a songwriter, producer and one of the best of our times. During his 25-year career, Whitfield co-wrote and produced many enduring hits for various Motown artists, including Aint Too Proud to Beg, (I Know) Im Losing You, I Heard It Through the Grapevine, Cloud Nine, I Cant Get Next to You, War, Ball of Confusion (Thats What the World Is Today), Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me), Smiling Faces Sometimes, and Papa Was a Rollin Stone. He left Motown and started his own label, Whitfield Records, in 1975, in which he signed the band, Rose Royce, Junor Walker, Undisputed Truth and others. He has written or co-written over 6o hits in the UK charts and 90 in the US charts. GARY
