In November 1979, about a year after a coup by a terrorist organization resulted in the establishment of the current government of Iran, 52 members of the US Diplomatic Corp were taken hostage by a central group of terrorists, many of whom are now leaders of the government of Iran, and held for over one year, only being release after a war was begun by Iraq. In October 2013, almost three years after organizing a take over of the US House of Representatives, the Terrorist Organization known as the Tea Party succeeded in its stated goal of shutting down the government of the United States. Initial efforts to free the country from the insanity have proven, thus far, unsuccessful, as the radical thugs have threatened the political lives of any member of the Republican Party who would thwart them. While seemingly laughable, the threats gain credibility since the group is financed by wealthy donors apparently intent on instilling chaos. Combined with the wholesale embrace of the seemingly tame group by the GOP following the devastating losses in 2008, the organization has proven to be very destructive when squeezed, much like little children hugging warm and cuddly skunks too tightly. The somewhat Svengali like hold this incendiary group has over the the GOP has manifested itself particularly in the actions of the Speaker of the House. While the Office of Speaker is generally considered to be on equal footing with the President, the cowardly reaction of John Boehner when confronting the terrorists has resulted in the gavel being turned into nothing less than a crutch, barely keeping the GOP Rep. in his own seat, let alone effectively governing. It seems it will take a strong group of courageous House members of the GOP to form their own version of Seal Team 6 to take out the Tea Party control and return the US Government to function.
