In November 2010, Rachel Kovach started experiencing pain in her leg. After an MRI showed a large mass on her thigh, Rachel was sent to CHOP to see Dr. John Dormans, chief of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Dormans confirmed that the mass on her leg was Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer that strikes children and teenagers. Rachel went through several rounds of chemotherapy, limb salvage surgery and hours of physical therapy to regain her strength, and now Rachel is back to her doing what she loves most – swimming competitively!
