In Old Testament times, traveling on foot during the night was treacherous due to the rugged landscape with crevasses that could swallow a man whole. David was all too familiar with this kind of terrain. That’s why he wrote, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” He is describing a small crude clay vessel fueled by oil that illuminated the path before him. The clay vessel was tied to his sandals and produced a minuscule light that enabled him only to see one step ahead. Like David, many of you may be walking in places where you can only see one step ahead. Keep taking the steps because you are assured that with each step He will light your way. You take the steps and He will provide the light necessary to place your foot on stable ground.
