In a Big Country 10/16/2010 This is Long Valley, part of the Long Valley Caldera; and this is the Owens River, reflecting the remains of an autumn day. It is big country. It is considered one of the deepest valleys in the states, but it is also a broad valley, so it certainly doesnt impress that way. No less, you can really breath here, with ample elbow room, when roaming around, looking for the right composition. Just be there, and you will find the right composition. When I traveled many years ago with a friend across the U.S., up through Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and then Alberta and some of British Colombia, I often had the same experience; wide open spaces that minimized my thoughts and concerns, along with my petty hangups. It enlightened me like no schooling Id ever had. It was lifes lessons with no textbooks. As we toured the Rockies, the radio played a popular tune at that time, but it is/was definitely a love/hate song as I recall, and I happened to love it. It just fit the movie I was in at that time. The guitars sounded like bagpipes, and the chord arrangement gave me a pleasant earworm. Its the tune that always puts me right back on that adventure.
