In a City of more than 8.5 million residents, the divisive actions - TopicsExpress

In a City of more than 8.5 million residents, the divisive actions of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association have no place at a time where we must unite as leaders to rise above the challenges that have plagued our communities for far too long. The funerals of New York’s Finest is not a platform to make a political statement, but rather a time to stand in solidarity to pay tribute to the men and women who courageously served and protected this city. The proposed exclusion of Mayor de Blasio and Speaker Mark-Viverito is indicative of the strained police-community relations that we must diligently work to rebuild and strengthen in order to restore public trust. We cannot allow one person to vilify the leadership of this City for recognizing the need for reform and accountability within the NYPD and justice system. newyork.cbslocal/2014/12/12/pba-to-de-blasio-mark-viverito-dont-come-to-officers-funerals-if-theyre-killed-on-duty/
