In a bid to improve the security situation in the capital, the Metropolitan Police Unit has introduced a new 10-point action plan. The Valley Police has introduced the 10-point action plan under the leadership of newly appointed chief SSP Ramesh Kharel. “Activities of gangsters with political protection will be monitored closely,” said SSP Kharel. The Nepal Police has launched a manhunt for the criminals using the capital as their shelter and is keeping eye on those freed after serving jail sentence. The action plan has focused on zero tolerance against corruption and impunity. Speaking to media on implementation of the program SSP Kharel said that the action plan is devised to boost up morale of police institution and thereby strengthening security arrangements in the capital. The first point of the plan has stated that the police administration shall work as a role model rather than becoming a cause of public panic SSP Kharel also said that the police will make intelligent use of its limited resources and adopt scientific method for crime investigation, cooperation and collaboration with other organization to combat criminal activities. The new plan has also devised a strategy to check social evils, hooliganism, gambling, prostitution and harassment.
