In a continued effort to proactively fight the mosquito population and help prevent West Nile Virus, the City of North Richland Hills will conduct ground level spraying in three areas of the city on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, September 21, 22 and 23, 2014. The spraying will take place (1/4) mile around: * 7200 block of Dick Fisher Drive; * 7800 block of Clover Leaf Drive; * Cross Timbers Park, 7680 Douglas Lane. The spraying, which is dependent upon the weather, will take place between 8:00 p.m. and midnight. To make sure each area gets covered, some spraying may also take place at dawn between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. The city will use its Code Red telephone system to notify residents in the areas to be sprayed. A map can be found on the citys website, nrhtx. This action is being taken because mosquito samples from these areas tested positive for the West Nile Virus. While the City is working proactively to control mosquito populations and lower the threat of West Nile virus, citizen involvement is essential. The most effective means of protection, even more protective than ground level spraying, is to use mosquito repellent with DEET and to eliminate standing water where mosquitoes breed around your homes and neighborhoods.
