In a couple hours I take off on a Colorado hiking adventure with my son and the high school youth group from our church. Im excited and nervous!! I only have a slight idea of what to expect and Im thinking that I will be taxed mentally and physically. We sleep in churches in Nebraska and Colorado on the way out there. Sunday night we sleep at the base camp and Monday we head out on the trails where we will hike and sleep (and potty) in the wilderness. Now Im a pretty good camper - we even still tent camp - but this is a whole new type of camping for me!! Now even when we do rustic camping (ie no potties) we have a portable potty that we bring with us. (can you tell Im nervous about the whole potty thing? LOL) As I was packing last night and getting more and more nervous I realized something...2 years ago I would NEVER have even thought about doing this!! In fact, when Ian did this very trip two years ago and they were looking for chaperones I had the excuse that they already had enough chaperones so there. In fact, I realized last night that truthfully, I purposely waited until I was pretty sure they had enough people going...LOL I did not have the confidence in myself that I would be able to handle a trip like this! This morning, as our departure time gets closer and closer, my confidence is dipping a little...but my excitement it is greater than my fear. I am stronger now that I was 2 years ago, physically & mentally. I know that, with God, I can do it (but a few prayers from my friends couldnt hurt) I cant wait to get back and share this adventure with everyone!! See you all in 10 days!!
