In a lot of pain last year, I made up my mind that the pain in my knees & hips was nothing that losing 80 pounds wouldnt cure - this after having my knees & hips x-rayed - to my surprise I didnt have any joint damage - yet. I decided to try an Atkins type of diet- severely limiting processed carbs, and throwing out the notion that low-fat everything would help me lose the weight. Been there, tried that for years without any success. Okay, so no more bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, and no drinks with sugar, and no fruit juices. I had already switched to organic no-fat milk, but changed to organic whole milk and organic butter, fresh vegetables and fruits, coconut oil, avocados, etc. After 10 days, even though I hadnt lost but a few pounds on this new diet, to my joyous surprise, my joint pains miraculously disappeared! It has been 10 months now. Ive lost almost 30 pounds so far. Im a bad girl who cheats, usually with potato chips, and I always pay for my cheating with pain in my hips that wake me up from a dead sleep in the middle of the night. I love eating fresh salads, cheddar cheese, seafood, steak, broccoli, coleslaw. Everything with melted butter and no guilt. Being a blood donor and seeing that my cholesterol dropped to the normal range took away any fear I may have had about this diet that I am so loving and losing weight with!
