In a nutshell, a read-a-thon follows the walk-a-thon format where a read a-thoner will set a goal to read everyday for TEN days, and sponsors will pledge to support that effort with $2/day of reading. If the reader finishes his book choice from Mar 20-29, each sponsor will submit a check made out to BKP for $20. Participants will read at home --no need to be physically present in one location. Meanwhile, hundreds of kids in various BKP partner communities in the Philippines will also read during the said 10-day period -- to be one in spirit with those raising funds for the BKP programs there. Everybody wins but there are a few special prizes: Reader who gets the highest number of sponsors, age 14 and up will win the title: 2014 BKP Reading Ambassador, and a free 5-day trip to either San Diego or Boston. One participant age 13 or below attracting the most number of sponsors wins the title BKP Reading Advocate, and a $100 gift certificate from Amazon. Second place gets $50 from Barnes and Noble. All participants are encouraged to post photos or video clips of themselves while reading --and whoever gets the MOST number of likes on the bkp fan page post, will win the title: BKP Reading Prince! Check this video promo! BECOME the next BKP READING AMBASSADOR! Share the joy of reading! youtu.be/jQ39NEj8nGk (promo video).
