In a small town there lived a young boy with his parents. Lately he had started becoming rude to everybody. He would offend somebody or the other and then apologize. This apologizing made him feel that he is actually doing no harm. Rather he is a doing a great job by admitting his mistake. One fine morning his father gave him fifty nails and told him to hit the nails on the outside wall of the house. The young boy didn’t understand this but did as he was told. That day father didn’t say anything. Next day the father asked the boy to take all the nails out. Again the puzzled young boy obeyed his father did the same. In the evening the father asked the boy, “Son what have you learnt from this?” The son replied “It takes less time to damage something but it takes a lot of time to reverse them. I put fifty nails in three hours but it took me seven hours to take the same number out of the wall.” Then the father took the son and made him look at the wall and said, “Son you pulled the nails out but the holes remained. Similarly when you offend somebody and apologize later, the scar remains” The son understood and promised to mend his behaviour.
