In about 2 weeks I head to the Tucson Gem Show for buying new inventory. For those that dont know, its the worlds biggest gem show, with vendors from all over the world. There are about 45 shows around the site, each in either hotels (ballrooms AND individual rooms, plus outdoor tents), outdoor arenas, or parks. Each show then features anywhere from 20 to hundreds of individual vendors. This show, the Tucson 22nd Street Mineral & Fossil Show is one of my favorites, and this gives you an idea of the size of the structure that holds about 180 vendors of stones, jewelry, beads, dinosaurs and fossils, etc. (Some shows are just beads, some are just high end cut gemstone jewelry.) It lasts for 2 weeks (give or take, some vendors open early and stay late), and even if you are at gem shows 8 hours a day each day, there is no way to see it all. It is spectacular and really something you should experience. For me its not only warm sunshine in the middle of winter, but its awesome people watching, hearing dozens of languages, seeing amazing creations from Mother Earth, and meeting just the coolest people. :) Watch for more updates as I get closer to going and when I am there!
