In addition to living in a tent and without hot water or cell access for the majority of the time, in the past 2 months I: -Got a shoutout from a Canadian 50’s pop band while in a canoe. -Was invited to a pyramid scheme. -Learned how to plant trees. -Stayed in a youth hostel in Toronto for a few days. -Camped in a sheep field. -Attempted to mow a hay field with a gas push mower. -Saw moose and bears on the road and narrowly avoided hitting a porcupine. -Went to a Canadian peacock farm. -Worked with and performed maintenance on generators, riding lawn mowers, chainsaws, trucks, cars, -weed whackers and tractors. -Canoed over a beaver dam. -Got covered in cement dust, ash, hydraulic oil, caulk, and leeches (but not at the same time). -Helped replace an entire plumbing system and build a bathroom. -Attempted to do laundry in the bathtub of an extremely cheap motel. -Played way too much Connect 4. -Coached a youth soccer team for a day. -Saw trick dogs and a professional hula-hoopist in Winnepeg, and -Drove 4000 miles. Here’s to a crazy, bizarre and wonderful summer as well as an equally kick-ass semester to come.
