In answering Kirts request for my dream directing gigs, I have to - TopicsExpress

In answering Kirts request for my dream directing gigs, I have to say I kind of live that every day with new works. I am blessed. But as far as established plays, I have had the opportunity to direct two and produce one: ANIMAL FARM by George Orwell in a wonderful adaptation by Nelson Bond at Plan-B Theatre in 2004; commissioned and produced THE SCARLET LETTER by Nathaniel Hawthorne in a damn-near-perfect adaptation by Jenifer Nii in 2012, also at Plan-B - these are two of my favorite books of all time; and THE ADDING MACHINE by Elmer Rice a few years ago for the University of Utah Department of Theatre. Established dream shows to direct? Im tellin ya my taste in not run-of-the-mill: I dream of MACHINAL by Sophie Treadwell regularly - this play simply knocks me on my ass. And TEAHOUSE OF THE AUGUST MOON by John Patrick is magical to me (albeit a little racist but a Japanese director could smooth some of that out). Not to mention Sakini has been my dream role since I was 20. And Im dying to see if the stage adaptation of THE CONFEDERACY OF DUNCES by John Kennedy Toole, which seems to be held under lock and key, has any legs because the book is another of my favorites. Truth be told, It would be the dream of dreams to be entrusted with a new play by David Henry Hwang, Philip Kan Gotanda or Chay Yew. I would like to hear from Anne Decker, Jayne Luke, Teri Campbell Cowan and Jay Perry regarding whats still on their acting bucket lists. And Jason Bowcutt regarding both acting and directing.
