In brighter news... I had a couple of pretty awesome Rotary moments on the way back home... In the Londrina airport, there was a kid in a blue blazer and pins saying goodbye to his friends and family before heading off to live in Finland for a year on exchange. Unfortunately, the sight of this, combined with saying goodbye to MY incredible host family at that same moment, in the very same airport that I said my farewells in 10 years ago and the end of my exchange year made me break down into a blubbering mess. I did eventually say hello to the kid and congratulate/wish him well and explain that I myself was a Rotary exchange student in Brazil 10 yes ago, and was in town to attend my host sisters wedding. After I managed to pull myself together, of course. The second encounter happened on the plane as we sat down next to a nice guy who, as it turns out is on the Rotary International annual convention planning committee. He was in Sao Paulo working on plans for next years international convention! He was just as passionate as I was feeling and actually told me that Its people like you that are the reason I do what I do. It was kinda great. Im kinda crying as I write this. Its a small world and Rotary makes it better! :D
