In case I had not given an update on the Hentzi project. We have - TopicsExpress

In case I had not given an update on the Hentzi project. We have lost two mature males, one due to old age and the other to inappropriate courtship behaviour. We rescued 22 Ts from the yard in McKinney. A check of the yard twice this spring was a heartbreak, as the city had installed telephone poles and dug right through one area where large females should have been. Hope was held out. A later check ten days ago quashed all possibilities, as no T is going to be able to dig out from under the ton of rock piled there now. In the meanwhile, the captured and captive breds all are eating well. The captive-bred babies from another breeder have molted at least once (finally) and seem to be doing well for the most part, though a portion of them have died as well. This is to be expected as no eggsac/hatch is ever going to have a 100% survival rate. Today we discovered the first eggsac laid by one of the wild-caught females. Next week we hope to scope out the population in the reclamation area and start marking future release areas.
