In case I’ve never mentioned it before, Michael is the most amazing husband ever! A few days ago he took me out to get my early birthday present. He said it was going to be air and hard labor. Turns out he wasn’t kidding! Our first stop was to Tractor Supply Company where we picked up a #5 oxygen cylinder (50” tall and about 120 pounds filled). We also bought a dual regulator and flashback arrestors. He dropped me and the tank off at home, leaving me to haul it up the back yard slope to the studio while he went to Home Depot to buy a plastic storage shed and some paving stones to place it on. While he was inside doing laundry, dishes, and all those other household chores that get done on the weekend, I was outside assembling the shed, installing the pavers so the shed would have a nice hard and level surface to stand on, wrestling the oxygen and propane tanks into the shed, and finally re-routing all the gas lines in the studio at accommodate their new location. I had to splice together some gas hoses and at one point I even cut a wrong hose. Michael was awesome in that he kept running to Home Depot for me repeatedly so I could keep working! By the end of the day I wasn’t quite done which was a little disappointing because I really wanted to play with my new oxygen. Turns out the regulator was broken so I had to wait until yesterday to replace it and now everything works and my torch is hotter than ever! :-) On my birthday Michael also surprised me with flowers, several bars of organic and fair-trade chocolate (yum!) and a cake! He’s the awesome-est!
