In case you havent already heard, my father, who is 91, awoke 2 nights ago unable to move his arm. He wanted to wait until morning to see if it was better, but my mother decided to take matters into her own hands, and she promptly called 911. The paramedics took him to the hospital. They had found a small sore on his hand, the result of a chicken scratching him, had become infected. His arm was somewhat swollen, but didnt appear too bad, but the doctor commented that if my parents had waited until morning, there might not have been anything that could be done for him. The infection was moving throughout his body at a rapid pace. They began treating him with antibiotics via an IV, and they were able to contain the infection. He stayed overnight last night, and will be there again tonight. Hopefully he will be going back home tomorrow. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. As my sister said, he is one strong cowboy, but if it had not been for my mothers wisdom, we would having a different conversation. And as the doctor said, she is one wise woman....but then again, anyone who knows her already knows that.
