In class today - 0745... I lead worship from Psalm 118. David often spoke to his soul to wake up and worship. In this Psalm he doesnt specifically do this, but it is something we have to do. Direct our will with our mind and our heart to fix our gaze on our beautiful God. The scriptures in the caption is something the Lord showed me in the middle of ministering to the class. The Psalmist says, I shall give thanks to You, for You have answered me, and You have become my salvation. The next verse says, The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. We recognize these to be Jesus words in Matthew 21:42-44, and then again it is read in Acts 4:11-12. Often when a line was read from the Psalms - quoted by Jesus or His apostles it would refer to the Psalm and the people would know more than what line was spoken. The reference referred to the whole Psalm. Take for instance Psalm 22 concerning the Cross. My point is explained by Peter in the Acts 4 reference. He refers to Jesus being the chief cornerstone which was rejected. Psalm 118:21 says, ...and You have become my salvation. Is Jesus our salvation? He is! Could it be that Jesus was pointing to this Psalm to speak to his people, that He was their Salvation? It is the Lords doing and it is marvelous in our eyes! He is marvelous. Psalm 118 starts with a statement X3 His lovingkindness is everlasting! Yes! The love of Jesus is everlasting. Faithful like the waves of the sea... from the depths of who He is, He faithfully crashes on our shores and knocks on our hearts to receive Him - receive salvation again and again. To know Him is eternal life. Its not found elsewhere.
