In cleaning out our parents basement, we found a little box of neatly stacked and stored baseball cards, mostly from the late 1950s. While the majority are of little-known players and of no significant value, it was nevertheless interesting to notice the team names for whom they played back then. Milwaukee Braves, Kansas City Athletics (As), Washington Senators, and the surprising one, Cincinnati Redlegs. I checked online and discovered that during the cold war era the name Reds seemed too closely connected to communism, so from 1956-1960 the Reds temporarily changed their name to Redlegs. Funny, I never knew that.
