In college I’ve… *Touched a moon rock *Been evacuated from Oldfather Hall by the SWAT team at gunpoint…twice *Been called stupid by a professor and a Nazi by a fellow student, all because they disagreed with me *Literally spent a whole class playing with mud *Started arguments over controversial topics in PoliSci classes just so I could sit back and watch *Become quite adept at writing term papers overnight *Met Jonah Hill and Russell Brand *Attended a Mike Posner concert in front of the student union in the pouring rain *Seen Matt Damon on a campus tour *Taken part in a spur-of-the-moment snowball fight in front of the student union *Had professors from every continent except Antarctica *Had an instructor from Russia dive to the floor after mistaking a tornado siren test for a bomb raid *Watched an instructor I HATED fall into Broyhill Fountain *Had 4 friends from high school/college pass away *Lost both grandfathers *Attended a lecture/dialogue between Chinese Ambassador to the United States Zhang Yesui and future U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel *Had professors from Harvard and Yale be guest lecturers in my PoliSci classes *Discussed human rights with a spokesperson from the International Criminal Court/United Nations *Had U.S. Poet Laureate Ted Kooser be a guest lecturer in my English class about poetry *Attended a lecture by the former administrator of the EPA about environmental protection and security *Attended English lectures by Pulitzer Prize winning poets and authors As stressful as it’s been, attending UNL has given me so many amazing opportunities and memories. These past five years have flown by so fast.
