In early spring the University of Nebraska Kearney will award Kearney Bound Scholarships to a maximum of 15 KHS Freshmen. Kearney Bound is a scholarship and college prep program. While students at Kearney High, those accepted will work with a UNK representative to complete UNK admission requirements, get good grades, and be actively involved in the school community. Upon completion of the program, Kearney Bound students will receive a scholarship to earn a Bachelors Degree at UNK, which includes tuition, fees, books, board and room. Qualifying students MUST Demonstrate academic promise, ability and motivation to attend UNK Be a first-generation college student (neither parent has a bachelor’s degree; or if single parent, the single parent does not have a bachelor’s degree) Be a Nebraska resident and must have a social security number Have parent commitment to have the child participate Have potential to be Pell Grant eligible. Parent will possibly need to fill out a financial aid estimator. An information meeting with the UNK Kearney Bound Coordinator will be held on Wednesday, January 29th during Bearcat Time for students who qualify to apply for the scholarship program. Freshman Bearcat Time teachers submitted names of students who will be given passes on Tuesday to attend the meeting.
