In general, I try to keep politics out of my posts. Unless I think it’s funny. Then all bets are off. But I’ve got to say something here. It seems to me that if you have a particular political belief, you have it because you believe it is what’s right, for you, for your family, for the country, for the world, wherever your priorities lie. If that’s the case, shouldn’t your goal be to convince others that your belief is correct, for the benefit of which ever group you prefer? And if that’s your goal, wouldn’t debating issues logically be far more effective than name calling? I’m a tea bagger. I haven’t got a racist bone in my body. Are there racists who associate with the tea party? Yup. Probably some child molesters and murderers too. It’s a pretty big group of people. Mr. Schwartz, I’m guessing you and I disagree on a whole lot of things. But if you can prove to me that I’m wrong and you’re right, and you’d like to try, then state your case in a civil manner and maybe I’ll end up being a liberal. Lord knows I’ve been wrong about other stuff. The point is, I’ll respect your opinions, even if I think their absolutely wrong. If you don’t want to respect mine, that’s fine, but I reserve the right to vent on Facebook on occasion. I hope there are no hard feelings; I know I’ve been guilty of some political name calling in the past. It didn’t seem to get me anywhere though. Finally, Mr. Belton, thank you, and rest in peace. Without you, sir, we probably wouldn’t have the right to disagree about politics. About that, I’m sure we can all come together.
