In honour of our 2015 Applications opening TOMORROW, here are 6 quick tips to help make your application look as best they can and help you stand out from the crowd! #iamCA #CA2015 #CAtips 1. SELL YOURSELF: You want to get across why camps should hire YOU and what you can offer them. Dont be modest, make sure you sell your skills and experiences. You want your application to stand out! 2. TAKE YOUR TIME: This is still a job application at the end of the day, so make sure you read over everything. Double check your spelling and grammar and make sure what youre writing makes sense and is appropriate/in the right context. 3. BE FLEXIBLE: When choosing the types of camps youd be willing to work at, be flexible and open to the choices as you will give yourself the best chance of being placed. Be flexible with your availability dates, the earlier youre available the better your chances again so make sure you know what commitments you need to fulfil and how early you want to get out there! Think about the skills you are putting on the application and the more you feel you have experience in and could lead/assist at camp the better! Camps love versatile staff! 4. BE HONEST: While we want you to sell yourself, as mentioned above, camps will hire you based on what they see on your application so you dont want to get into an awkward situation when youre asked to lead something that you cant do! Also be honest with your reasons for applying and past experiences as camps will want to get to know more about you. 5. PHOTOS: Your profile photo on the application should be a clear, smiling, head & shoulders shot of yourself. Make sure it has an appropriate background and youre not in the middle of a group shot! Your activity photos should be demonstrating your skills mentioned or showing off your personality/achievements. Again make sure they are appropriate and also clear. 6. VIDEO: Recording a video is a great way for you to show off more of your personality to a camp director. This is the best chance theyll get to see you face to face in a sense, so they want to see why you applied, why they should hire you and what youre like as a person. Its also a great way to demonstrate and show off your skills as well. Dont over think it, this is not a Hollywood production and the quality of the editing will not matter its purely for the camps to see more of you!
