In honour of us hosting The Late State last night, tonight and tomorrow for Lingo: A Spoken Word Festival, weve written a poem about last night for you. A jazzy beat and a new crowd, flooding in Down the red-lit stairs in night-lit pairs Stroking the wallpaper, come in, come in. Youve piqued our curiosity, so bring in the night.... With a groovy bass and a steady beat The girls march in, youre hauled to your feet And a very different night begins. Its poetry in commotion, no beatniks and fingers snapping Just hands in the air, people whistling and clapping With luscious liquors swirling in glasses As lovely lads grab their lovely lasses And pull them onto the floor, for more. And the Late State arrives, in hip hop form And were jumping and bouncing with new talent announcing Its presence, on our stage, in our house, In our home, and your spoken word world is less alone Because were one of you now. So go on, take a bow. #LingoFest
