In just a few hours of persistent rain on the 1st January, Kenwith Valley started to flood. Although Id been told it often floods, it surprised me just how quickly it happened so I decided to take the following series of photographs to show it at half hourly intervals. If Torridge District Councils planning committee councillors are mindful to approve a recent planning application on Fairholm Fields, which is situated immediately above the area where these pictures are focussed, I do hope theyll seriously consider the implications that just one days heavy rainfall has had on the valley. Since experts universally seem to agree that were likely to see heavier rainfall in future winters, it would seem likely that well see much more of this and to a much greater extent, which would only be exacerbated by this development.
