In late Yogesh Pawar,31, who perished along with many family members in the Dockyard building collapse, we have lost yet another young dream. In his 10 years of active journalism, Yogesh gave us many breaking stories in transport and other beats, which others followed. All of us at HT, especially Yogesh’s beat colleagues Kailash Korde & Prajakta Chavan-Rane, and Pratik Salunke (our crime reporter), who showed me his last ‘seen’ on whatsapp last evening, hoped against hope that Yogesh would come back to us. My fingers froze, mind stopped working for a while when I read, forwarded and asked my desk colleagues to accommodate a piece by Kailash-Pratik on Yogesh’s missing status. Obit time, folks, hard time. This takes me back to 1996 when I lost my dear friend Manoj Saudagar, also a journalist. I had to write his obit immediately after attending the funeral. Today I ask you for strength and support in forcing the government to make amends. We have been hammering power centres through our writings. Let’s make it a large-scale movement… Mumbai, Mumbra and all our other cities/towns need one ASAP.
