In my experience, strong emotions are far more persistent that rational thoughts. Especially when I feel strongly about someone, that person follows me wherever I go, whether she knows it or not. Those persistent thoughts and feelings become “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,” to put it into the words of the writer of the New Testament letter to the Hebrews. Somehow, faith, hope and love always seem to go together, whether they make sense or not. Another biblical letter-writer says in First Corinthians that love is the greatest of those three, but Im not sure whether love can last without faith and hope. For the last five months, I’ve felt varying degrees of these feeling — and even when they don’t make sense to feel, they still remain with me everywhere I go.
