In my history of playing records in public, Ive only been openly - TopicsExpress

In my history of playing records in public, Ive only been openly booed exactly once. It was the mid-90s in #Detroit, and I was spinning at this insane Friday-Saturday night after-hours on the corner of 7 Mile Rd. and Woodward. The crowd was an interesting mix of hardcore party kids, local celebrities (a certain notorious former Detroit Red Wing was a regular) and random freaks. I could play almost anything and get away with it (Steve Millers Fly Like an Eagle was a weekly 4AM anthem). Key word: almost. This is was the offending track. I guess Ive got a strange sense of humor or something. I thought it was funny, anyway. Fools started booing, so I just mixed into something off Licensed to Ill and everything went back to normal. Maybe I was being a little cavalier, but whatever. Long before he went all Devil Without a Cause MTV rock star, Kid Rock was just another local dude busting his ass trying to do something in Detroit. That wasnt even the night Trent Reznor and Courtney Love showed up together.
