In my humble opinion, and I hope Im wrong, but I believe that we have our own selective battles. The reason why Peshawar massacre hit us the hardest was not only because it was the most brutal and inhuman act of violence, but deep down there is a fine line of relatablity since we also wore Oxford sweaters, studied the same curriculum and our kids go to the same school. So when we see most of the right wing parties showing their indifference to this crime is because they dont see us holding memorial services or least changing our display pictures when their madrassahs get wiped out by a drone attack. 141schools.org sprung up within 24 hours yet we left it to moulvis to sort out their problems on their own. 600+ famine related deaths in Thar (still ongoing) in a country thats largely agriculturally self sufficient, yet no food stamp program for the poor. So when we selectively mourn the dead, some people make it a point to ensure we feel the pain too just like they did. I believe in order to avoid such incidences, we need to equally mourn the loss of a life. The life of every human being is equal. I find classism deeply rooted in us and that is what the whole conundrum is all about. You are allowed to disagree with me.
