In my last official act as Mayor, today I declared December 31, 2014, as Tom Rousseau Day in San Leandro. Tom has been physically challenged since a child. He and his family settled in San Leandro in 1951, when Tom was 20. Tom is most known for his greeting card business, which he has sold across our city for over 60 years. There are not many persons that have been in business in San Leandro for that long. I congratulated Tom and thanked him for being an inspiration to the community. Tom resides at the Broadmoor Plaza. Many of the staff and caregivers were on hand for the presentation of the proclamation. Several friends of Tom attended as well, including the Rev. Earl Kehret (in the photos to Toms right).
