In my opinion, Fletcher is a better midfielder than Carrick and Fellaini. Yes, Carrick is a better passer of the ball no doubt but Carrick does not offer any movement and does not put players under pressure. On the other hand, Fletcher is willing to make forward moves and is willing to chase after the ball. That is what the team has been lacking all along. He may not be the greatest passer nor the most technically-gifted but the movement he offers and the way he hounds the opponent is much more valuable. As for Fellaini, yes he is strong but he has no work rate and no speed. He is simply unable to force errors out of the opponent. To avoid embarrassment against Bayern Munich, I believe Fletcher-Carrick-Fellaini must start to compact the middle of the park, with Kagawa-Rooney-Welbeck upfront.
