In my piece dated 4th February, 2011titled Probity, Accountability and Integrity Counts and circulated nationally, I gave my reasons for opposing President Ebelemi Jonathan and the PDP. What has changed? I stated as follows: On PDP, the party has demonstrated its inability to move the country forward.Instead the country continued in retrogression since 1999.A few facts will buttress this: 1.Petrol Price: It was N22/lt in 1999 and N65 in 2011. 2.Fertiliser Price:N1,200/bag in 1999 and N4,800 in 2011 3.Sugar Price:N2,500/bag in 1999 and N8,500 in 2011 4.Cement Price:N850/bag in 1999 and N1,700 in 2011(depending on location) 5.Cooking Gas:N450 in 1999 and N3,000 in 2011 6.Rice Price:N2,500 in 1999 and N9,000 in 2011(depending on brand) 7.Crime rate :45% in 1999 and 75% in 2011 8.Corruption rate:50% in 1999 and 95% in 2011 9.Purchasing power:45% in 1999 and 20% in 2011 10.Exchange Rate:N90 to a dollar in 1999 and N155 to a Dollar in 2011. These a few economic indicators to establish the failure of PDP as a party in government.I have heard people speak of the good intentions of President Ebelemi Jonathan, but that is not good enough. We want change we can see and buy into .That is what Buhari/ Bakare presents to the masses. The vehicle conveying the president to Aso Rock in April has an engine knock and the only way is to tow the vehicle and its occupants to the villa.IS IT NOT BETTER TO RIDE ON A CLEAN AND BRAND NEW CAR TO GET TO ASO ROCK?We have tried the economic policy of president Ebelemi Jonathan and this is what we have: ECONOMY:The performance of the economy under his watch has been abysmal and not encouraging. His present budget appropriated over 75% of total sum to recurrent expenditures.A very poor approach to development in a country with dilapidated infrastructure. The Excess crude oil Account has been decimated from US$22Billion to about US$3million with nothing to show for it.Do you want to continue on this path? ELECTRICITY:His failure in this regard is extremely colossal.According to the government, the total generation of electricity in June 2010 was 4,000megawatts.The government launched a programme to fast track power generation at the same time with over US$5Billion.By end of December, 2010 the generation capacity decreased to 3,500megawatts.This is a throw back to the Obasanjo years. How justifiable is this? HAS ANYTHING CHANGED AFTER 4 YEARS?
