In one of his weekly column in one of the major dailies, Koigi wa Mwere who is the longest serving detainee in Kenya’s history,. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Much longer than Jakom. He has said Raila Odinga’s strategy to win the looming referendum is to repeat the strategy he used in 2007 of dividing Kenyans. “Raila Odinga is using the 2007 precursor of 41 against 1 to win the referendum and Kenyans should reject the idea,” Koigi warned. On whether Kikuyus are supposed to own land at the Coast, Koigi said the constitution states that every Kenyan has a right to settle and own land or other property anywhere in Kenya. He said it is regrettable for the CORD leadership to say that the root cause of insecurity at the Coast of Kenya is linked to upcountry people who have settled in the Coast and grabbed land there, hence the reason why they are under attack in Lamu County. He said many Kikuyus living at the Coast bought land and others were settled by Mzee Jomo Kenyatta’s Government the way Kibera residents were settled by retired President Moi. Koigi said Kikuyus at the coast never grabbed any land and it is myopic for CORD leaders to lie to Coast residents that the main cause of poverty at the Coast is because of Kikuyus. Wow! A brilliant kenyan
