Dikshit Women’s contribution in development remarkable Benefits of Dilli Annshree Yojana percolating down through female head of family Smt. Dikshit addressed congress women workers at DPCC Senior Congress leader & Chief Minister Smt. Sheila Dikshit yesterday said that in order to accelerate the process of women empowerment, the city government provided 50% reservation in the three corporations which helped women in taking lead roles. She was addressing the Congress Women Workers meeting at DPCC Office. She exhorted women workers to start door-to-door campaign for ensuing elections. She complimented women and stated that their contribution in development has been remarkable. The women have been contributing substantially in home and outside world. The city government initiated “Laadli” scheme which helped in improvement in gender ratio. The scheme is linked with birth of girl child and their education. It is irony that there has been no evaluation of work being done by the women, even their earning is not added in family income. In order to make women empowered a number of NGOs have been working along with GRCs to impart useful training to them. Thousands of women have been benefited with this. The Congress has always in mind to strengthen Mahila Panchayats by providing more funds. This will help ordinary women to be well-versed with process of their advancement. Smt. Dikshit stated that more than 76% of entire work being done in world is being undertaken by women. Their contribution at home and at their workplace is not at all evaluated. Even, the efforts and contribution of women are not being recognized. Our government has set up 140 Gender Resource Centres, which have been making women from vulnerable sections trained enough to supplement to their family income. My government has tried to empower women by implementing Dilli Annshree Yojana as also the Food Security Scheme and the benefits would be percolated down through the female head of the family. Our government was the first to introduce Laadli scheme which was later on replicated by Central Government and other states. Further, my government has been providing relief to women in registration of properties in their names. They are being charged 2% less on stamp duty. Only Congress government would allot low-cost houses in the name of women as first owner.
